Let them Soar: stories of women composers & their piano music

Solo recital and teacher's edition

A program of music composed by women from around the globe throughout the past 300 years. Along with works by Marianna Martines, Florence Price, Margaret Bonds, Germaine Tailleferre, Melanie Bonis, Lili Boulanger, Anna von Schaden, Dora Pejačević, and Madeleine Dring, Erica shares stories and tidbits about these women, many of whom are just now having their music heard by a wider audience thanks to scores finally being made more accessible and to the network of colleagues who have been working together to let these womens’ voices soar.

Program has been performed at Radford University; University of Texas in San Antonio; and the Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art in Roswell, New Mexico; Floyd Center for the Arts, Floyd, VA; Roanoke Valley Music Teacher's Association, Roanoke, VA; and in Charlotte, North Carolina.

I also have a teacher's version of this program that incorporates pieces that range from elementary to advanced. Most pieces in this version of the presentation have scores that are available for free download at IMSLP.org.

With Regards: composers inspiring composers

Solo piano recital

We all find inspiration and support from our friends and our colleagues. In this program, Virginia-based pianist, In this program I highlight, through music and words, the regard that composers and pianists have had for one another and will bring to light how crucial these friendships were in each musician’s growth. Composers included will be Edvard Grieg, Agathe Backer-Grøndahl, Germaine Tailleferre, Felix Mendelssohn, Delphine von Schauroth, Johannes Brahms, Clara Schumann, Elizabeth and Henry von Herzogenberg, and Ethel Smyth among others.

Editing, Engraving, and Performing of Anna von Schaden and Antonio Rosetti’s Piano Concert

Anna von Schaden & Antonio Rosetti's
B-flat major piano concerto

Engraving, editing, and performance

Having fallen in love with this concerto, I have done my own engraving of the work - the orchestra parts, a conductor's score, the solo piano part, and a two piano version. I've also written my own cadenzas and have edited the parts.

The US premiere of the concerto was given on February 28, 2026 in Blacksburg, VA with the Virginia Tech Philharmonic, conducted by Mathias Elmer. I was joined by writer Anne Midgette who presented a pre-concert talk about Anna von Schaden and the world in which she lived, performed, and composed. Anne has written an historical novel, Escapement, in which Anna plays a very big part.

LIVE Interactive Practice Session with Erica

These sessions are a great way to help see my practicing concepts in action. I will have an open practice session where she narrates what it is she's doing and her thought processes. Participants watching are welcome to ask questions throughout.
