Let them Soar!

Solo piano recital & storytelling

A program of music composed by women from around the globe throughout the past 300 years. Along with works by Marianna Martines, Florence Price, Margaret Bonds, Germaine Tailleferre, Melanie Bonis, Lili Boulanger, Anna von Schaden, Dora Pejačević, and Madeleine Dring, Erica shares stories and tidbits about these women, many of whom are just now having their music heard by a wider audience thanks to scores finally being made more accessible and to the network of colleagues who have been working together to let these womens’ voices soar.

Program has been performed at Radford University; University of Texas in San Antonio; and the Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art in Roswell, New Mexico.

Music read is usually music on IMSLP.org and links are provided so that viewers can follow along if they wish. Questions, feedback, and comments from viewers are also welcome.

Shows are archived and can be viewed at any time.

Erica is also available to come and do a show LIVE in your area.

I'm the co-founder of this Roanoke, VA based ensemble primarily featuring flute, clarinet, and piano that is dedicated to championing women in music and education and creating connection through music.

Piano Music She Wrote

Curated YouTube channel & online directory to piano music composed by women with scores available on IMSLP.org

Pianist Sandra Mogensen and I started this project at the beginning of 2020 because we were finding it so difficult to find the scores to piano music written by women. We knew that there was a lot available on IMSLP.org but found it challenging to filter the site so we decided to do the hard work ourselves and to compile the info into an online directory.

There is also a YouTube channel to accompany the directory where we post recordings of our favorites.

Beyond the Notes Blog
